For us, it is very important to carry out value-creating maintenance to help customers achieve a safer, more efficient and more sustainable operation. To support that goal and ensure that everyone at Jernbro has a common foundation and a good understanding of what industrial maintenance entails, the Jernbro Maintenance School has been created.

The training is Jernbro’s knowledge platform in industrial maintenance, maintenance development, operational reliability, safety rules and much more and ensures that everyone at Jernbro has a common view of our maintenance delivery. This is seen as valuable considering that Jernbro is located in around 30 locations in the country and that all customers should receive the same good service everywhere.

− It is very rewarding that we have created our own training, for which we have also developed our own training material and maintain it ourselves. In addition to building up more knowledge, we also hope that it will give a sense of community and pride, says Niklas Jälmevik, business developer at Jernbro.

Since the start-up about a year ago, the Jernbro Maintenance School has taken place three times. Magnus, Mikael and Måns are three of about 60 people who have participated and this is what they say about the course:

Maintenance School− The training gave me an understanding of how to work preventively by putting forward action proposals. The reason is that it a machine’s life cycle can be extended, which is good in a sustainability point of view. Another valuable element was remembering to present risk observations, in order to maintain a high safety culture. The participation really gave me a good experience and it feels good to carry the knowledge with me in my work as a Workshop Manager, says Mikael.

Maintenance School− One of the things with the course was being enlightened about how useful it is to disseminate your experiences, so others don’t have to spend time solving similar problems. Knowing details about how and why things fit together has also made me have a greater understanding of why I have to do what I have to, as a mechanic, in order for the whole to come together. Not to forgot is the importance of passing on routines to new employees, as well. The insights simply make it easier to work, says Magnus.

Maintenance School− I think it was interesting to learn how it works in practical terms when we get a new customer, as it is a step that I am not involved in, in my role as an electrician. It was also good to be reminded to give customers suggestions for improvement, to contribute to rules being followed, increased sustainability and high security, says Måns.
