In 2019, more employees will be educated and certified in maintenance management to create a certainty that Jernbro has a high capacity within this expertise at several places in the country. Through a common platform, the conditions are created to standardize the working method on Jernbro’s all customer assignments and customer contracts.

– We have chosen to educate more managers and specialists, through Svenskt Underhåll, to assure qualitative competence of those who work with maintenance, says Martin Wirén, Department Manager for Engineering at Jernbro in Skövde.
– The goal is to have about 20 people certified according to the requirements by the end of the year. It feels safe both for the customers and us to have certified employees because it benefits the industry, the safety and the environment, says Martin Wirén.

Jernbro has an aggressive approach to skills development to keep pace with the development and competence at a high level.
– Through regular training initiatives, we can meet our customers’ needs, develop our deliveries and develop our employees,” says Martin.

Torgny Helsing, maintenance engineer at Jernbro, has a European certificate issued by Svenskt Underhåll and can name himself European Expert in Maintenance Management. A title with high status in maintenance.
– The education has meant that I contribute to a higher operational reliability and develop my own working methods on my client assignment within mechanical maintenance at Forsmark’s nuclear power plant,” says Torgny. Safety has the highest priority at Forsmark and this means that in all jobs, processes and decisions, we put safety first and foremost.

For Torgny, the certification confirms that he is right about what maintenance means in industrial contexts.
– We, who are educated and certified, have a common view and understanding of what maintenance means. We simply speak the same language and it facilitates the work and gives a better result, Torgny concludes.

A training is 12 days followed by training for 3 days and concludes with an exam through Svenskt Underhåll, who certifies those who passes the exam.

Maintenance refers to the combination of all technical, administrative, and managerial actions during an item’s life cycle intended to maintain or restore the item to a state where it can perform its necessary function.

– The goal is to have about 20 people certified according to the requirements by the end of the year. It feels safe both for the customers and us to have certified employees because it benefits the industry, the safety and the environment.
