Jernbro has successfully completed extensive pipe installation work for the energy company Jämtkraft in connection with the construction of the new combined heat and power plant in Östersund. The project is part of Jämtkraft’s commitment to future-proofing a stable supply of district heating.

− In this project, we concluded that Jernbro was the supplier that best met our requirements for installing the district heating system in the new facility. We also saw advantages in Jernbro offering prefabrication of pipes in Sweden,” says Jonas Berglund, responsible for turbine and generator at Jämtkraft Värme.

− The work began with extensive pipe prefabrication in Jernbro’s workshop in Finspång. This was followed by the actual installation of the district heating pipes on site in Östersund. The work was intensive and required several competent fitters and welders. It was a big job in a small area, which required careful planning and precision, says Markus Möller, supervisor from Jernbro.

The project involved several different pipe sizes, with the biggest challenge being to correctly fit the pipes into the compact building. Thanks to perfectly prefabricated pipes combined with solid documentation and flawless drawings from the customer, the work could be carried out efficiently.

− The good planning and communication with Jämtkraft were crucial to the successful outcome. We had a lot of contact throughout the process and were open to any challenges, which contributed to a smooth collaboration, says Markus.

Jonas Berglund confirms this and highlights the importance of close dialogue:
− We have had ongoing communication from day one to resolve issues and problems that arise along the way in this type of project. This collaboration has enabled a successful end result. From our side, there is a lot of coordination as we have had many suppliers on site at the same time. Jernbro has really been flexible in adapting to it, as well as striving to be ready according to our schedule and other needs. Jernbro has shown high competence on all levels, which is why I may very well collaborate with Jernbro again.

The project was concluded with a successful final inspection.

In the spring or summer of 2025, Jämtkraft’s new combined heat and power plant in Östersund will be inaugurated.
