The indispensable metal – and the partnership building the next phase
Copper is rarely seen. But without it, industry stops. Among other things, it carries electricity in our grids, powers machines in factories, and is a prerequisite for electrification. At the same time, supply is very limited – and demand is growing rapidly. It is in this context that Viscaria plays a crucial role.
AN IMPORTANT PART of a larger whole
In Kiruna, the reopening of Viscaria’s copper mine is underway, a project that will contribute to securing the supply of copper for future industry.
As part of the early development, Jernbro has delivered prefabricated pipe systems and carried out installation work for the new water treatment plant – a critical part of the infrastructure that is now in the final phase of commissioning.
The work has been carried out in close collaboration with Viscaria and other stakeholders, in an environment where quality, safety, and coordination have been crucial for the final result.
FROM DELIVERY to partnership
But what is being built here is significantly larger than a single delivery. Viscaria is now entering the next phase, where a new concentration plant is planned to be erected in 2026. In the continued development, Viscaria sees Jernbro as a long-term partner – from installation to commissioning and further as support in maintenance.
– Jernbro has proven to be a reliable partner in a crucial phase of our project. Their ability to take responsibility for the implementation while being close to us in daily operations means that we see them as a natural part of future steps as well, says Jörgen Olsson, CEO of Viscaria.
PART OF THE INDUSTRY OF THE FUTURE
Establishing new mining capacity is not just about raw materials. It’s about enabling industrial development, strengthening Sweden’s competitiveness, and securing access to materials that the entire society depends on.
The collaboration between Viscaria and Jernbro continues to deepen and develop – from an infrastructural assignment to a long-term partnership.
