The steel manufacturer SSAB has had a close and successful collaboration with Jernbro for many years. By combining technical skill with a problem-solving approach, Jernbro has become an important partner for SSAB. The work ranges from routine maintenance to challenging projects, characterized by accuracy and quality.

− Jernbro is a reliable partner who focuses on efficiency and quality in the work performed in combination with good documentation and feedback. It has contributed to the fact that we have had a framework agreement with Jernbro for 5 years, regarding daily maintenance on the pipe side, says Thomas Hansson, Head of Mechanical Maintenance at SSAB in Luleå.

In addition to contributing their expertise in pipe welding, secondary steel and pipe assembly, Jernbro also performs mechanical maintenance such as replacing valves, gaskets and compressed air lines, and manufacturing and installing railings and brackets. Jernbro manufactures some on site at SSAB, but when it is larger devices it is manufactured at Jernbro’s own workshop in Luleå.

− A complicated and exemplary installation that Jernbro has carried out, among other things, was of a large crusher shaft of 4.5 m. That assignment went to Jernbro because they could offer the best delivery and carry out the complicated installation within the time frame and budget, explains Thomas.

− Another project that Jernbro has carried out at SSAB, where safety and precision were important, is the renovation of the lime kilns. The project required cutting-edge expertise in welding, lifting torque, joint work, as well as careful planning, says Mattias Modig, Group Manager Maintenance and Projects at Jernbro in Luleå.

− Jernbro distinguishes itself through its ability to not only carry out what is required, but also come up with its own suggestions for improvement. If they see a crack in a pipeline, they suggest solutions to prevent future problems. This approach to proactive problem solving and a desire to optimize processes is something that is highly appreciated, emphasizes Thomas.

Magnus Ahnlund, at Media Koksverket at SSAB in Luleå, agrees:
− The communication and cooperation with Jernbro is very good. They are also extremely helpful in case of problems. I also appreciate that they are very good at asking questions about security and are careful about risk analysis, which is important to us.

− SSAB is very professional in its safety thinking when we have to carry out jobs and they hold safety training courses and are informative about what applies. They also have very nice customer service and our collaboration is characterized by mutual trust, adds Mikael Carlsten, Group Manager Pipes and Mechanics at Jernbro in Luleå.

− At Media Koksverket, Jernbro helps us with repairs that sometimes follow pipe inspections, as well as pipe replacement and the manufacture of pressurized devices. Before manufacturing, they sometimes need 3D-scanned material to improve the drawings. Jernbro has, for example, helped with troubleshooting the split furnace at the sulfur plant, manufactured and installed a new water trap and fixed a cracked bellows for the steam boiler, says Magnus.

In conclusion, Thomas emphasizes that the staff at Jernbro are service-minded, which is shown by the fact that they always solve SSAB’s problems:
− Jernbro’s adaptability to help us at short notice when emergency maintenance is needed is a great asset for us. Jernbro is a team player and our absolute emergency strength on the pipe side.
