Silos for the plastics industry

WHEN MATERIAL FLOW must work without interruption

In the plastics industry, it is not enough to have material on site. It must be available in the right quantity, at the right time, and without disrupting production. Jernbro delivers custom-designed silos for plastic granules and plastic powder – built in-house, adapted to each operation’s needs, and installed on site.

For operations with high material consumption, a silo can be a more efficient alternative to big bags. It reduces manual handling, simplifies logistics, and creates a smoother material flow into production.

A SILO IS MORE
than just storage

When plastic granules or plastic powder are handled in big bags, recurring bag changes, internal handling, and in many cases production adjustments around material supply are required. For higher-volume operations, this quickly becomes both time-consuming and resource-intensive.

With a silo, granules can be delivered directly to the site and blown into storage for onward feeding into production. This creates a more stable and efficient solution, especially for operations with high material consumption and where production cannot afford unnecessary stoppages.

FROM BIG BAGS
to better flow

Big bags can be a workable solution on a smaller scale. But as volumes grow, the limitations often become clear. A silo is often the right choice when you want to:

  • reduce manual big bag handling
  • minimise production downtime
  • streamline internal material flow
  • increase available storage capacity

LESS HANDLING. More production.

For operations that use plastic granules in larger volumes, there are several clear advantages to moving from big bags to silo storage.

A silo makes more material immediately available and reduces the need for recurring changeovers and interruptions in material supply.

Big bag systems often require extensive internal handling. With a silo, the manual work involved in unloading, changing, and refilling is reduced

Granules can be delivered directly to the site and blown into the silo, instead of being handled in many separate units.

As production scales up, material supply quickly becomes a bottleneck. A silo creates capacity for higher and more consistent flow rates.

Larger storage capacity can also provide more flexibility in purchasing and planning.

For plastics production where flow must hold

Our silo solutions are primarily aimed at plastics manufacturers that use plastic granules in larger volumes. Typical production processes include film blowing, blow moulding, injection moulding, vacuum forming and extrusion.
