Turnaround without compromise

In 2025, Jernbro carried out TAR 25 at Equinor’s refinery in Mongstad, Norway – one of the most extensive and technically demanding turnarounds at the facility in recent years.

The project included mechanical work, piping and welding on critical process systems and equipment, and was executed in a complex, operations-critical environment.

Challenge

Jernbro was entrusted with executing approximately 360 work packages within a compressed mechanical window, placing high demands on mobilisation, coordination and technical precision.

During execution, the scope grew by more than 20%, increasing pressure on staffing, interfaces and the schedule – while still delivering with no compromise on safety, quality and operational stability.

Solution

Jernbro mobilised up to 130 specialists and delivered the project using a structured execution model based on detailed planning, strong on-site leadership and close collaboration with Equinor.

In addition to the original scope, Jernbro acted as a trusted go-to contractor, resolving critical and high-risk tasks and ensuring progress throughout the turnaround.

Results

Jernbro completed the turnaround safely and to a high standard after approximately 56,000 man-hours, with no serious HSE incidents.

All tasks – including the expanded scope – were delivered as agreed, demonstrating Jernbro’s ability to manage complexity, adapt to changes and deliver stable performance under high pressure.
