Käppalaverket relies on Jernbro for complex reconstruction work
With strong experience in rebuilds during operation and long expertise in wastewater treatment, Jernbro plays an important role in the ongoing modernization of Käppalaverket on Lidingö.

Challenge
Käppalaverket, owned by the Käppala Association, is being upgraded to reduce nitrogen, phosphorus and organic emissions into the Baltic Sea and to increase its treatment capacity. The challenge lies in performing extensive reconstruction while the plant remains in full operation without disrupting the purification process.

Solution
Jernbro’s team has manufactured and installed four 30-meter-long pipes in 28-meter-deep drill holes in the mountain. The prefabrication of pipes, supports, and fittings was carried out in Jernbro’s workshop based on detailed machine drawings from Maskinkonsulterna EVT.
Throughout the project, close coordination with Käppalaverket and other contractors has been essential. Jernbro’s careful planning, risk analysis, and constant dialogue with the customer ensured a safe and efficient installation, despite the plant’s challenging environment.

Results
The collaboration has run smoothly, with high appreciation for Jernbro’s welding quality and well-structured work, even when unexpected challenges arose. All welds have passed x-ray inspection, ensuring top-class quality.
