Metacon drives green transition with Jernbro’s engineering and pipe work
Jernbro played a key role in building Sweden’s first public hydrogen gas station, contributing expertise in welding, pipe work, construction, engineering, and project management. The station, powered by wind energy, provides a 100% green fuel alternative for heavy vehicles and passenger cars.
Challenge
Metacon AB was building Sweden’s first public hydrogen gas station for heavy vehicles and passenger cars. The station is powered by electricity from its own wind turbine. The project required handling high-pressure systems (350–700 bar) and complying with evolving standards in a pioneering sector.
− Jernbro had to adapt in real time due to late changes and new standards in the hydrogen area, says Jonas Danielsson, Business Area Manager Electrolysis at Metacon.
Solution
Jernbro contributed welding, pipe work, assembly of container stations, construction, engineering, and project management. The team worked on-site with flexibility, adjusting designs and processes as the project evolved.

Results
The hydrogen station was completed on schedule, providing a 100% green alternative to traditional fuel. The collaboration led to follow-up contracts for new hydrogen stations in Arvidsjaur and Piteå. Jernbro’s involvement will expand to include EPC project management and prefabrication of pipe work.
