Alleima turns to Jernbro for critical gearbox repair
When a 16-ton gearbox at Alleima Tube AB in Sandviken needed urgent repair, Jernbro took full responsibility—from disassembly and transport to workshop repair, reassembly, and installation. Challenge
At Alleima Tube AB in Sandviken, a 16-ton gearbox—critical for rolling drill steel bars—showed bearing damage during an online vibration measurement. With the gearbox essential for production, Alleima needed a reliable partner who could handle the repair quickly and professionally during a planned shutdown.

Solution
Jernbro took full responsibility for the project, starting with onsite disassembly, careful marking of all components, and the complex lifting and transport of the gearbox to the Avesta workshop. There, technicians inspected and measured components, identified worn bearing positions, and designed new sleeves in CAD to restore correct tolerances.
After manufacturing and fitting the new sleeves, Jernbro reassembled the gearbox with axles, gears, and couplings. They then carried out precision machining and quality checks. Jernbro transported the repaired gearbox back to Alleima, lifted it into place, and reinstalled it. The team completed everything on time, despite discovering additional issues during the work.
